It's the most wonderful time of the year...the time when Lambda Eta decorates the house in fun and festive decor, puts on their favorite Christmas sweaters, and invites all of our loved ones over to get in the spirit, at the Annual AOII Holiday Open House! With a new home to celebrate in, this Holiday Open House was one of the best yet! With enough holiday cheer and awkward family photos to send smiles through a following week of Final Exams, this was certainly an event to remember.
Say hello to our Beta Eta girls, the newest addition to this fantastic and ever-growing Lambda Eta Chapter. On Friday, November 7th, 2014, a New Member Retreat was held on campus with all of our lovely new members and their educators. It was a time to celebrate how far they have come together, as they embark Initiation on November 14th! Each and every one of these ladies will exceed the expectation, and we cannot wait to watch them make their mark in this chapter.
Home is where the heart is: and Lambda Eta was so proud to invite members of our Headquarters, Alumni from across the state, and our newest members to join us in a House Dedication Ceremony earlier this fall. The Dedication followed the official Opening Ceremony of Grand Village, which provided Alpha Omicron Pi, Alpha Sigma Phi, Alpha Sigma Tau, Gamma Phi Beta, Phi Sigma Sigma and Sigma Kappa with all new houses, built this past summer! Our ceremony included a ribbon-cutting, a tour, and a performance from our Rose Singers. It was a historic day for Lambda Eta, never to be forgotten.
After gaining a fabulous new member class, the time had come for Big and Little pairings, everyone's favorite time of the year! We organized our Big/Little Reveal in all new style, in which the Bigs hid inside cars, only to be discovered by their Littles when a certain song would play. The reactions were priceless and the memories of Reveal will last forever. What better way for our new member class to feel welcomed into AOII?!
Our Fall 2014 Recruitment Weekend was nothing short of spectacular. Though the three days of Recruitment were jam-packed with cheering, talking and attempting to survive it all in high heels, we got to spend an entire weekend doing what we do best...representing the Lambda Eta Chapter. All the Greek Chapters on GVSU's Campus gained several amazing new members, and we are so proud to have expanded our family. Loyal Forever.
Lambda Eta has begun their Fall 2014 Semester at Grand Valley State University, and we couldn't be more excited for all of the amazing opportunities ahead of us! In addition to a fantastic recruitment just around the corner, we are beginning this school year with strong goals and a new house to call home! Each day forward is a new chance to exceed the expectation.
Reunited and it feels so GOOD! On August 9th, 2014, Lambda Eta Sisters all returned to West Michigan to attend Sisterhood Retreat Summer 2014! We discussed business, prepared for Fall Recruitment and bonded by a bonfire! Retreat was held at the beautiful abode of our lovely sister, Kristen Sarniak! A huge thank you goes our to Kristen and her amazing family, for welcoming so many girls and handling what was likely to be the largest slumber party they've ever witnessed!
This year was special, as it marked 25 years of colonization on GVSU's campus! Therefore, on April 12th, 2014, we bumped up our Spring Formal by transforming it into AOII's 25th Anniversary Gala at Frederik Meijer Gardens! There was a silent auction, a live band, and a visit from our international President, Peg Crawford! Overall, it was the perfect celebration of Lambda Eta's incredible 25 years on this campus. Here's to 25 more!
There's nothing like a weekend of sisterhood to help sisters gain confidence for upcoming final exams! As Winter Semester 2014 started heading toward a close, Lambda Eta held the last retreat in the Tuscola house! Though the new AOII house is sure to be fabulous, sisters made the best of their Tuscola Retreat memories. There was a dance-off, sisterhood bonding activities, and more!
Mother's Day isn't the only time to celebrate the fabulous women that raised us! On March 22, 2014, Lambda Eta hosted their annual Mom's Day event! We invited the mothers of all chapter members to come to GVSU's campus and learn about all of our efforts and accomplishments. The guests enjoyed yummy snacks and a fun photo session, while sharing many laughs. Thank you to all the AOII mothers that inspire us everyday!
