Becoming the Best that We Can Be
Lambda Eta is proud to support two spectacular organizations, known as our Local and National Philanthropies. Locally, we are very involved with Indian Trails Camp, a camp centered for children with disabilities, located right on Lake Michigan Drive! Meanwhile, we also fundraise throughout the year and donate our earnings to the National Arthritis Foundation, which raises awareness on severe Arthritis for individuals of all ages.
Indian Trails Camp:
Some of our efforts toward Indian Trails Camp, include Spring Clean-Up, in which we help clean and re-paint all of the cabins at the camp. We also plan consistent group visits to the camp, as we interact with the campers and help them hold various events. In addition, Lambda Eta hosts an annual Spaghetti Dinner every year: during this event, we invite students in the GVSU Greek Community and all over campus, to come to our house and enjoy some delicious spaghetti, made with love by the sisters of AOII! All of the ticket proceeds for Spaghetti Dinner go straight to Indian Trails Camp, as it is always guaranteed to be a successful turnout!
The National Arthritis Foundation:
Lambda Eta works hard to spread the word on the severity of Arthritis disease. Particularly, we aim to make it known to many that Arthritis is not solely diagnosed to individuals of older age. In fact, there are several children who suffer with Arthritis Disease at an extreme level, as their ability to walk and play is significantly effected. We raise awareness to this disease by fundraising throughout the year: some of our most famous annual events, include Strike Out for Arthritis and AOII Goes Blue. Some years,we have held our Strike Out event at a bowling alley, while in recent years, we have held the event in Allendale Middle School! Attendees of Strikeout can participate in games, while meeting sisters and learning more about the effects of Arthritis. Meanwhile, AOII Goes Blue is a movement in which AOII presents the effects of Arthritis to students on GVSU's Campus, while representing the National Arthritis Foundation through our blue attire! Together, we know we can make a difference.
